The Deseret News' coverage of the Utah Legislature 2014 zeroed in on effects more than process, providing relevant coverage to our Utah readers, and inviting them to engage in exploring issues that impact the employment, economy, safety and education of every Utahn.
By the stroke of midnight, the Legislature ended the 2013 session, with a $13 billion budget, passed public and higher education funding bills, in addition to legislation that requires ACT and SAT exams for High School students, federal background checks for Utah child care workers, and bans teen drivers from talking on cellphones. Two immigration laws were pushed back to 2015. Through this story series, the Deseret News legislative team highlighted the conversation circulating around each bill through live tweets and articles.
